Philosophy
I've always strived for two things professionally: to express my ideas in a creative way and to learn new skills that aid in expressing that creativity. I've found that graphic and web design enable me to fulfill both of these needs.
I tend to create clean and beautiful designs, that are not filled with unnecessary whiz-bangs and widgets. I want my clients message to get across to their audience in a clear and straight forward way, and my designs do that quite effectively. That's not to say that I don't like to create fun and wild sites... in fact I quite enjoy them... however, the majority of my clients are small to medium sized business owners, who are not that comfortable with experimental designs.
I also believe that, as a professional graphic and web designer, that I should be a steward of good design and look to educate clients about the importance of good design at every chance. On every project I find at least one opportunity where I can show my client how good design will help their business and where bad design will hurt their business.
Process
My designs all have one thing in common - they represent a close collaboration between my client and myself. When I begin a project, whether it is a website, a logo design, or a simple business card, I always start with an examination of my prospective clients business practices, needs and customers. I then work closely with my client to collaboratively come up with a design that meets their needs.
Skills & Experience
I have been employed as a professional graphic and web designer for the last 3 years and have been an active freelance graphic and web designer for 5 years. Over that time I have learned various skill sets that allow me to customize a solution based on my clients needs and budget. Every project is unique and therefore requires a different combination of design and technology solutions to achieve the end product. As technology changes I am forced to adapt and learn new skills that I can use to better serve my clients.
